Frequently Asked Questions about CBD (Cannabidiol)

If you are new to CBD Oil we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions we receive.  If you need any further help please contact our support team and we will be happy to answer any other questions you may have.

HOW MUCH CBD OIL DO I NEED TO TAKE?

This depends on the strength of the CBD you order.

You should always start with a low dose and gradually increase.

Start Low, Go Slow

Each person is different and the benefits of CBD are often subtle and hard to detect at first. Every human has a different physiological make up, that’s why the dosage can vary from person to person. In the end, you must discover your own dosing regimen by titrating (increasing slowly over time) up to the dosage where you get most relief. Generally, for most people, this is somewhere around 2-3 drops three times a day.

Increase or reduce dosage as needed.

DOSING EXAMPLE - STARTING

Start with one drop once a day After 3-5 days, increase to one drop three times a day After 3-5 days, increase to two drops three times a day

DOSING EXAMPLE - HEALTH CONDITION

After starting (see above), stay on two drops three times a day until you have been using CBD for about 3 weeks Review and assess: See how it is working for you

If necessary, continue to titrate up to find the dosage where you get the most relief Increase to three drops 3 times a day After another week, increase to four drops 3 times a day, etc If you increase and after about a week you feel that not much additional relief is obtained, reduce back to your previous dose This becomes your 'maintenance' dose

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE CBD OIL?

We recommend to take CBD three times a day, leaving at least 3 hours between each dose. It’s always better to take CBD on an empty stomach so the acids in the stomach don’t interfere and break down the CBD before it is absorbed fully. For some people they decide that taking CBD Oil once a day is perfect as a maintenance program. Similar to taking your daily vitamins.

IS IT BETTER TO TAKE CBD IN THE MORNING OR THE EVENING?

Some people find that taking CBD Oil in the morning works best for them as it makes them more alert. Other people find CBD oil is best taken at night time. It’s up to you to find out what is right for you.

IS IT BETTER TO SWALLOW OR HOLD THE OIL UNDER THE TONGUE?
We recommend placing CBD oil under the tongue and holding it there for 1-2 minutes.  This gives you the maximum absorption through the capillaries in the mouth (sublingual absorption). If you just swallow CBD Oil you may have less absorption since it will be broken down by the acids in your stomach or metabolised by your liver. Swallowing CBD Oil can leave a harsh taste at the back of your throat. By holding it under the tongue and letting it absorb gradually you can minimise this. If you find the taste harsh, follow it with a light, fatty snack, such as a cheese or buttered cracker.
HOW LONG WILL A BOTTLE LAST AFTER OPENING?
If you store your CBD Oil in the fridge your CBD will last for months after opening. If you expose it to heat or direct sunlight for a prolonged time it’s potency may reduce.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND CBDA?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural chemical called a cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp plants. CBDA is the acidic form of CBD. This means the cannabis/hemp plant in it's natural state produces CBD + CBDA. When heated (decarboxylated) CBDA becomes CBD. So if you juiced raw cannabis plant material you’d be taking CBDA and CBD. If you heated it, say by smoking it, you would just be getting CBD. Therefore FULL SPECTRUM oil is just as nature intended.

IS CBDA BETTER THAN CBD?

Some customers report that they get better results using CBD + CBDA, others CBD. This doesn’t mean that one is better than the other, it is just a matter of finding which one is right for you. Cannabinoids all work together in a synergistic way, this has been called the entourage effect. Our extracts contain CBD + CBDA with over 400 other natural compounds such as terpenes, flavonoids, photo-nutrients etc.

Sometimes it’s just a matter of preference. If you don’t get the results you expect with one it’s often a good idea to try the other to see if one is better than the other.

WILL CBD HELP MY HEALTH CONDITION?

Hemp oil can be consumed as a health supplement. In accordance with regulations we can not make health claims regarding our CBD products. Please research cannabidiol and CBD oil through other trusted resources such as http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed to educate yourself as to how cannabidiol and hemp may affect the human system. A site we also recommend is www.projectcbd.org

WILL I GET HIGH FROM CBD IN HEMP OIL?
No, hemp oil contains mainly CBD, a compound which does not make the you feel high. Some customers report that it makes them feel relaxed, others report that in high doses it can have similar effects to drinking coffee. Hemp oil helps you to keep a clear mind and maintain an active lifestyle.
CAN I TAKE CBD WITH PRESCRIBED MEDICATION?

If you are taking prescription medicine always consult with your doctor or health professional before trying CBD.

CAN I TAKE CBD WHILE I AM PREGNANT?
We advise not to take CBD when pregnant. This is more as a precaution and your decision should always be made with the advice of a qualified medical practitioner.
DOES CBD HEMP OIL SHOW UP ON A DRUGS TEST
When you get a drug test they normally use a urine or blood sample and check for the presence of THC (Tetrahyrdocannabinol)   THC-COOH, and THC-11-oic acid are formed in the liver after the body has consumed cannabis and it is these chemicals that are tested when you go for a blood or urine test. THC-COOH doesn’t have much cross reactivity to the other non psychoactive cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol), CBG (cannabigerol) or CBN (cannabinol), which means if you have taken CBD Hemp oil you probably won’t get a positive result on any drug test. Theoretically it is possible if you are taking very large doses of CBD hemp oil (above 1000-2000mg per day) due to the minute traces of THC that could build up over time. Due to differing body weight, metabolic rate and other lifestyle  factors it’s possible that cbd oil containing as little as 0.02% THC could show up in swabs, blood or urinalysis.
